5Chestnut  Learning Update

Central idea: The appreciation of art forms can be determined by the individual.

We have been working on our second line of inquiry this week - an inquiry into how art can be used as a means of expression.  We looked at some famous textile artists, as we will be moving on to our DT learning which involves designing and making a Christmas stocking.  We have researched different designs and thought about what might appeal to a consumer.

In maths, we have been adding and subtracting mixed numbers.  It has prompted us to talk about the importance of knowing our times tables, as there are many steps involved in converting fractions, which can be slowed down if we do not know our times tables facts.

Towards the end of term, we are going to share the wonderful writing that we have been working on this week.  We have researched chosen artists, and then written biographies of their lives.  We have published them on 'Book Creator', and we will share the link over the coming weeks.  We hope that you'll enjoy reading them as much as we have enjoyed writing them.
