2Maple Learning Update

Central idea: Rules and laws within a society can help shape its structure.

What a super last week of term we have had in year 2!  The children have been learning about Parliament and have had the opportunity to debate some interesting topics such as 'Will computers replace teachers?' and 'Are computer games bad for you?' It has been great to watch, listen to the children sharing their views and learn how to respect each other's opinions.  We then planned and wrote a letter asking permission to give our opinions to the Speaker and enjoyed reading our letters aloud.

In maths this week, we have revised strategies for adding and subtracting both within and across 10 - this has involved lots of practical work using base ten equipment to make sure we count accurately in 10s and 1s.

We loved listening to the end of our class story 'The Princess and the White Bear King' and after writing a prediction for our own ending, we then story mapped and wrote our own version of the story opening.  Children have shown great maturity in their approach to writing and editing whilst really taking on the storyteller's voice.
