Principal's Message

Thank you to all the parents and carers that came to our consultations this week. It's always a great opportunity to share how your child is getting on with their learning and what their next steps are. If you were unable to attend this time, please make an appointment with the class teacher via the office.

Next week, we have the beginning of the KS1 SATs. The children (and the staff) have been working hard to ensure the children are as prepared as they can be and we know that they are going to do a fantastic job! We really appreciate your support with ensuring that your child is in school on time and ready for learning. The results of the tests will not be shared as they form part of the teacher assessment judgement that will be shared with you in their school report next term.

We also have the Coronation Picnic next Friday. Year 2 have taken the lead on organising the picnic and ensuring everything is ready for families to join us. There will be refreshments available to purchase, including a cake stall, and there will be performances from the choir and dance club to name but a few. We are really looking forward to marking the King's Coronation with you.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend and we will see you all on Tuesday 2nd May.

Scooter Safety

We have been made aware of 2 near misses this week with children on their scooters. Whilst we encourage the children to walk, ride or scoot to school, they do need to do this safely and follow the road safety rules. With this in mind, we discussed road safety in assembly today and shared this song with the children about how to be safe whilst scooting.

National Online Safety

A free online safety guide on Fortnite.

If you know any young gamers, you’ll almost certainly be familiar with Fortnite. It’s one of the most popular video games on the planet – up alongside other mega-hits like Minecraft, Roblox and Call of Duty in terms of its sheer number of fiercely dedicated players. Fortnite currently has more than 400 million devotees worldwide – around 25 million of whom play it every day.

Given Fortnite’s relatively young user-base, though (as many as one in four pre-teens are reported to have played the game, despite its PEGI 12 age rating), it’s prudent not to conflate immense popularity with absolute safety. Our #WakeUpWednesday guide assesses the latest version for potential pitfalls that parents and carers of young Fortnite fans should be aware of.

In the guide you'll find a number of potential risks such as compulsive playing, audio chat with other gamers and in-game spending.

Poetry Competition

We would like to thank all of the children who entered the Easter poetry competition. We had some fantastic poems entered, each unique and creative in their own way. It was incredibly hard to decide on a winner, however, Jesse T's (4Chestnut) wonderful poem inspired by the natural world was our winner and receives our first prize - a £10 voucher to spend on a book of his choice. Well done, Jesse! We have two very worthy runners-up: Olive C and Finley G, (both of 2Maple) who each receive a second-place prize.
