6Elm      Learning Update

Central idea: Conflict shapes society.

The class have been thrilled to start our inquiry and there has been great enthusiasm towards our learning of World War 2.  So far, they have enjoyed sharing what knowledge they already have as well as expressing their opinions on what they would like to learn more about throughout our inquiry journey.  We started our lines of inquiry by thinking about the timeline of events that led to the start of World War 2, as a result of the events that happened during World War 1.  We have explored Germany post-World War 1 and how, as a nation, their views towards the rest of the world altered as a consequence of the Treaty of Versailles.

The children have also been working very hard in the SATs revision in preparation for their forthcoming assessments.  I have shared with the children additional areas that they might like to work on at home if they get the chance.  Over this week, there has been a focus on reflection and translation of shape, area and perimeter and arithmetic style questions in maths lessons.

Reminder

A reminder that the SATs week will take place after the bank holiday of the king's coronation between Tuesday 9th May - Friday 12th May. It is vitally important that the children are in school during this week. We will be providing a complimentary breakfast for Y6 pupils during this week with children welcome on site from 8.15am to eat together in order to help them to feel settled and prepared for the tests they face that day.
