2Maple Learning Update

Central idea: Rules and laws within a society can help shape its structure

This week, we have spent time learning maths with lots of practical activities to reinforce the children's understanding of telling the time and measuring. The children made their own analogue clocks which helped them to remember where each number is placed. We then worked on telling the time to 5 minutes. We have had some great success and the children are now keen to tell us when it is break time and lunch time.

Within our inquiry, we are investigating rules and law. The children have decided on the 10 laws they want if they were stranded on a desert island with their friends. We thought about rules to keep things fair and rules to keep us safe.

We are learning the song 'I just can't wait to be King' from the Lion King. The children have brought home a lyric sheet and they are keen to practise. Your help with this would be very much appreciated.

Next Week is SATs week for Year 2. The children are looking forward to demonstrating all of their knowledge and we have worked hard to ensure we are providing them with the best possible opportunity to do so. Please can you support them in encouraging an early bed time and a good breakfast in order to set them up for a great week.

We are looking forward to our coronation picnic on the field next Friday. The children can bring their costume in to school with them and they will be able to change into this at lunchtime. Please remember that there will also be outdoor learning that day. In order to reduce the amount of time spent changing, the children will not need to change into outdoor learning clothes but they will need to bring suitable footwear and a waterproof coat.
