5Aspen Learning Update

Central idea: Roles and responsibilities lead to successful leadership.

Last week, to start our inquiry, we explored different roles we find in our society. Focusing on these, we have considered what the responsibilities for each role are, and whether certain roles have greater responsibility. This week, we have begun to focus on leadership and how this can look in different scenarios. In doing so, we have explored the leadership displayed during the Great Plague of 1665, considering the response of leaders to their pandemic. Our particular focus on the selfless sacrifice of the village of Eyam, and the responsibility they took upon themselves, will help build our understanding of successful leadership.

In our maths, we are building on our prior place value knowledge of decimals to add and subtract with these numbers, applying them to a variety of contexts. In our guided reading, we have started using 'The Ickabog' as our class text to apply our comprehension skills to.
