Oak Learning Update

Central idea: Humans can explore their environment to understand the world around them.

Team Oak are explorers!

We have had an exceptional start to the new year. All children have returned to school remembering the rules and boundaries, all have shown they are ready to learn!

We have spent a lot of time exploring the outside environment and commenting on what we can see, hear and feel whilst outside. The weather has been cold so this has given us the opportunity to develop our language/ vocabulary.

Iris said:

"My toes feel like they have icicles on them."

While exploring we have also developed our strength and agility. Joe found a "nest" of branches in the trees which he supported his friends to climb under, over and through. Thank you for being an exceptional teacher, Joe!

Upon our return to the classroom, many children have been keen to write about their experiences outside. As a team, we are trying to always remember capital letters at the beginning of sentences and finger spaces between words.

I also wanted to say a huge thank you to all parents that have taken time out of their busy schedules to come and read to the children during storytime. Hudson still talks about the time his Grandad came to read to us all. He said:

"I love my Grandad reading to me!"

If any other parents would like to be our Mystery Reader, please do not hesitate to speak to me. Please remember, it's a secret.

Reminders:

As we are spending extended periods of time outside, please ensure your child has a warm coat, hat, gloves and scarf aswell as wellington boots. Thank you.
