6MonkeyPuzzle Learning Update

Central idea: Architecture, as a form of expression, reflects culture and history.

OUR LEARNING THIS WEEK

This week, we were extremely lucky to be visited by Ms Collingwood from Mascalls, who delivered a science enrichment activity dissecting hearts. In module one, we learned about the circulatory system, understanding the importance of the heart in this system and the different parts of this vital organ. The lesson with Ms Collingwood fascinated us all and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the heart's different chambers.

In maths this week, we have continued to focus on developing our knowledge of fractions and the use of the four operations with fractions.

In reading comprehension, we have delved deeper into the Wonderscape and learned more about the journey the characters Arthur, Ren and Cecily are on.

Our core text has been our inspiration for our writing this week too, writing a newspaper report based on the mysterious circumstances the three children went missing, culminating in them entering the Wonderscape.

Our inquiry journey this week has led us to understanding different periods of architecture through time. We have considered what this looks like across the world and how the core principles of architecture are shown in these buildings. We then thought about the history of architecture in the UK, generating a timeline to document this.
