Central idea: Expression can be influenced by our values

In inquiry this week we finished our first line of inquiry 'what values are' by comparing other countries cultural values to our own. The children produced some amazing map work and were also able to create an interactive map on slides to demonstrate their understanding of different values in Europe.

We then moved on to our second line of inquiry 'An inquiry into how values are expressed.' This directly linked to our focus on cultural values and the children created a print inspired by the French artist Matisse, ensuring their design was influenced by French values (friendship, equality and liberty). We finished the week by looking at narrative poems and archaeology in preparation for next week.

During maths this week we began our new topic of multiplication and division, focusing on equal groups, arrays and multiplying by 2.

The children are really enjoying our key text in guided reading 'Secret Suffragette' and are beginning to make links to our inquiry journey.
