Year 4 Autumn 2022

Visit  Radha Krishna Mandir was ideal way to learn about Hinduism in the Religious Education curriculum and get a first-hand experience of the Hindu faith in practice. Whether it’s learning about the world’s oldest living faith from an interactive presentation and the ‘Understanding Hinduism’ exhibition, or seeing a traditional Hindu temple.

Year 4 had a go today to explore the Crumble software. Crumble software can be used to write their own code and follow their own creative imagination to see where using the software and their skills will take them.

In Science , Year 4 had an interesting lesson where they had to test different materials/objects to identify if they  are conductors or insulators.

As part of their PHSE  topic - Democracy , our Year 4 pupils visited the Houses of Parliament.

They learnt about the history of the Houses as well as the democratic features. They also visited very important rooms including the House of Commons and stood above the Front Bench where the Prime Minister and the Cabinet normally sit.

Children have thoroughly enjoyed their learning  and have been engaged and curios to the point where they are continuing  to ask questions. Absolutely fantastic!

This term Year 4 Pankhurst have been learning about Ancient Greek history. They have developed a good knowledge of mythology and the key historical events and people made famous in ancient times. Their visit to the British Museum inspired the children and brought the topic to life. The class have been really gripped by the topic. They learnt key facts and information about the time and used excellent critical thinking skills to ask questions, compare and contrast and view the period holistically, how art, literature and events link together to tell us the story of Ancient Greece in 2022. It has been wonderful to see how much they have learnt and how much they have enjoyed it.

For our first History lesson, Year 4 had an interesting session where they had the opportunity to look at some Ancient Greek artefacts and some secondary sources. The Greeks have had many fascinating artefacts over the last couple centuries. Some even tell stories which is like recording history in a pretty package. This also shows some of the different types of art the Greeks had. This session highlights the early Greek art and life.
