As the Water Management Consultants, our mission is to protect the Sustainable Agriculture Project's crops from flooding and surface water runoff.
Reducing runoff in agriculture helps prevent algae blooms and prevents drinking water sources, or water for plants, from being contaminated by chemicals in fertilizers. The pooling of water that soil can't absorb can ultimately have negative impacts on the environment.
Flooding can also cause erosion and soil displacement which ruins fields and destroys crops. The result of erosion can wash away fertile topsoil that's necessary for healthy plants, along with depositing sediments that can smother crops.
