Step 1: Students will look at examples of desserts and savory bites for inspiration for a work done in colored pencil.
Step 2:
Students will research different online bakery and food shops to look for images:

Step 3:
Students will watch a video on layering colors to achieve any color you may need.
Layering Colors on the Extended Color Wheel
Step 4:
Students will use the burnishing technique to complete an extended color wheel where they will have to layer colors to achieve the correct colors and attempt 2 textures: folds and holes.
Step 5:
Students will draw a contour line drawing of their chosen photograph. They may choose to use a grid to get correct proportions.
Step 6:
Students will watch a colored pencil cupcake video.
Step 7: Students may begin shading their food compositions. Remembering to pay special attention to areas of highlight, midtone and shadow to give the composition a 3D feel.
