Mission Chaos: Our Year 9 Students Are Getting Published!
In July, our Year 9 students took on an exciting challenge by entering the Young Writers Competition. Their task? To write a gripping 100-word story that could make it into a book titled Mission Chaos. And guess what? 13 of our students have been selected to be published in the anthology! 📚✨
This week, these budding authors received their well-deserved certificates and bookmarks, and we can’t wait to get our hands on our very own copy of Mission Chaos this November!
We are beyond proud of our soon-to-be published stars! 🌟 A gentle reminder to our talented writers: please complete the online consent form with your parents so your work can be included in the final book.
A massive thank you to Ms. Cociasi for all your hard work guiding our students through the process—your support has been invaluable! 🙌
Let the countdown to publication day begin! 🎉
In our final STEM club session of the last academic year, students explored the magic of chemistry with flame tests. With safety goggles on and curiosity ablaze, they used metal chloride solutions and Bunsen burners to witness the vibrant hues of different metals in flames. From red lithium to yellow sodium and lilac potassium, our young chemists connected colours to elements. The excitement was contagious, with students declaring, "I want to be a scientist!" as they watched green barium flames flicker. A massive thank you to Mrs. Sethi and Mr. Foric for guiding our young scientists through such a captivating year of STEM learning! 🔥🧪
We’re back in action with the STEM club, and our first session of the new academic year was a blast! Students got hands-on with scribblebots—robots that create unique patterns using a simple series circuit, motor, and battery. By attaching felt pens and placing the scribblebots on large sheets of paper, the erratic vibrations caused them to move in unpredictable ways, producing colourful, random patterns.
This fun activity not only introduced students to basic electrical circuits but also demonstrated how electric motors work using magnets and coils. Our young inventors were amazed by the creative patterns their bots made and are already eager for the next STEM adventure! Keep an eye out for more exciting experiments every Monday after school. 👩🔬⚙️

The National Online Safety programme publishes a weekly #WakeUpWednesday update for parents/carers. This week's free online safety guide focuses on what parents need to know about worry and anxiety.
At times, growing up can be a stressful experience. It’s not unheard of for young people to fret about things that could potentially go wrong in their lives – and what implications this would have for their life. In some situations, this can go beyond feeling uneasy about the future and become full-blown anxiety, which affects their mental, emotional and even physical wellbeing.
While worry and anxiety can originate from many different places, it's immensely important for parents and educators to understand the effect this can have on youngsters – and how best to support them if they’re going through a difficult time. This guide provides insight into the ramifications of worry and anxiety, and how you can help children manage – and hopefully overcome – these challenges.
