Standout student work: Year 9
The LBS 150 challenge is back on for the Autumn term, and year 9 are set to repeat their impressive performance of last year. We have a new, more challenging review form that asks pupils to evaluate the most important scenes and characters and to consider the themes of their books. Take a look at some of the year 9 submissions so far:
Gurinder B. (Seahawks) identified themes of violence and exciting scenes in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
Lendy S. (Giants) chose the ghosts as the most important character in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol "because they carry the storyline".
Angel F. (Dolphins) noticed themes of war and tragedy, as well as disloyalty, in Alistair MacLean's Where Eagles Dare.
Angel also reviewed Philip Reeve's Infernal Devices, describing Gargle perceptively as "a hero - ish". We think he meant an antihero, but there is certainly something charming about his way of putting it.
Thanks to Gurinder, Lendy, and Angel for their thoughts. We can't wait to see more from our brilliant year 9s!
