This half term has seen lots of fantastic work being produced by students throughout the school, flexing their creative muscles and showcasing their hard work and determination in their studies and beyond.
Towards the end of the Autumn term, Year 7 explored the legacy of invasion in Britain. After completing their assessments they learned about how castles within the UK developed over time, and were set the task of creating their own model castle over the Christmas holidays.
Judging the castles proved tough, with there being many highlights, including fully functional drawbridges, castles with lively villages of Lego people, and castles made entirely from clay!
A massive well done to all the boys who took part and demonstrated their creativity, originality and manual dexterity.
Congratulations to our winners, pictured:
Our GCSE Geography students were taken on a trip by Ms Truman and Mrs Thompson to explore urban environments. Below is Ms Truman's account from the day:
Please see the photos attached of our amazing Geographers undertaking their own independent enquiry into our local urban environment. The boys were tasked with interviewing the public independently of us and really stepped up to the challenge. Please congratulate them when you see them.
Some comments that I received from the public outlined the results of all of the consistent work we do around the character education of our boys:
"These young men were very respectful and polite, a real pleasure to see young people like this"
"These lads were very articulate and confident in their approach"
"What a great thing to see, young people with respect and great manners"
It wouldn't be possible for us to take these boys into the field to interact with the public without everyone's consistent approach to LBS attitudes, so thank you for all the support!
A group of four students from Year 8 Set 1 took charge of a lesson centered on Sikh worship.
They meticulously planned and prepared the content, delivering it to their class with finesse and clarity.
This initiative underscores our commitment to the six core virtues integral to our personal development and character education program, particularly emphasising compassion and respect, as these align with the fundamental values upheld in Sikhism. Congratulations to the students who played a key role in this successful event.
In the Year 10 GCSE PE class, students continued to showcase their knowledge and communication skills through presentations on the Components of Fitness.
They crafted compelling arguments highlighting the significance of each fitness component.
These presentations not only deepened their understanding of theoretical concepts but also enhanced their communication skills, confidence, and the ability to critically analyze their peers' arguments. The interactive nature of the sessions fostered a supportive and engaging learning environment.
We can't wait to see all the amazing work from students in the next half term!
