Feedback, Quizzes and Polling for Formative Assessment

Google Forms

Google Forms can automatically grade the quiz and you can import the grades into Classroom. Students can see their grades immediately, or after you review their answers. You can also lock a quiz on Chromebooks managed by your school.

Vevox

Vevox is an audience engagement tool that enhances online, hybrid, and face-to-face sessions with options for live polling, quizzes, surveys, and Q&A. Instructors can present questions, answer options, and results through a web browser. Students participate using a web browser, or the Vevox app, on their own device.

Slido for Google Slides - a free extension at the Chrome Web Store

You make your Google Slide Presentation. Your audience can vote on their laptops or smartphones using just a single event code at slido.com. No need to download or install any app.

Plickers

A tool that lets teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices. Plickers uses your iPad or Android tablet in conjunction with a series of QR codes to create a student response system. Students are given a set of QR codes on large cards. The codes are assigned to students. Each code card can be turned in four orientations. Each orientation provides a different answer. You can ask questions verbally or project them on a screen for students to see. When you're ready to collect data, use the Plickers mobile app to scan the cards held up by your students. Plickers will show you a bar graph of responses. Responses can also be saved in your online Plickers account.

Features:

This is a great polling tool that is free for k-12 basic and up to 40 participants. Premium requires payment. What I like the most about this tool is that it allows teachers to text polls for free to their students.

Kahoot

A game based response system in which students use their own mobile devices - Create a fun learning game in minutes (called ‘kahoots’), made from a series of multiple choice questions. Add videos, images and diagrams to your questions to amplify engagement!

Socrative (also for iPad and iPhone)

Socrative lets teachers engage and assess their students with educational activities on tablets, laptops, and smartphones. Through the use of real-time questioning, instant result aggregation, and visualization, teachers can gauge the whole class’ current level of understanding. Socrative saves teachers time so the class can further collaborate, discuss, extend, and grow as a community of learners.
