Deck.Toys - ‘Learning Paths for Lesson Adventures’!

Deck.Toys is a platform for the classroom. Teachers can turn regular lessons into highly engaging experience for students to learn and explore. Teacher accounts are free, although there is also a monthly subscription for a more advanced account. With the free account, you get two classrooms and can have three decks that are private but you create up to 100 public decks that are accessible to all from the Deck Gallery. Knowt

Create flashcards from scratch or by importing a document and letting Knowt automatically generate flashcards for you. Additionally, Knowt has a large database of flashcards that you can browse through and add into your own account.

Exploratorium

The Exploratorium was the brainchild of Frank Oppenheimer. Located in San Francisco, California, the Exploratorium is a public learning laboratory exploring the world through science, art, and human perception.

Newsela

Newsela is a collection of articles and text sets which can be assigned to students for lessons. The library contains articles in a multitude of topic areas including arts and culture, science and math, religion and philosophy, government and economics, geography, world history, and U.S. history. It also includes primary sources, biographies, famous speeches, and many more topics. Newsela features text sets for a variety of areas such as science, literature, social studies, and math. Spanish texts are also available for users. Articles are published for five reading levels based on lexile so readers of all ability levels can read the same article. Each article includes a standards-aligned quiz, writing prompts or additional activities. Assignments can be shared with students directly through Google Classroom. Newsela has a basic plan which is free, but the option to upgrade to a premium service is available.

Actively Learn

Actively Learn is an online literacy platform which allows teachers to find texts to pair with lessons in ELA, science, or social studies. It includes scaffolding and higher order questioning for students as well as annotation capabilities and assessments. Teachers can also provide instant feedback to students and support English Language Learners through the translation feature. Actively Learn is completely integrated with Google Classroom.

PBS LearningMedia

PBS LearningMediaTM is your destination for direct access to thousands of classroom-ready, curriculum- targeted digital resources. PBS LearningMedia builds on the strength of public media and is designed to improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement. Resources are aligned to Common Core and national standards and include videos and interactives, as well as audio, documents, and in-depth lesson plans. You can browse by standards, grade level, subject area, and special collections. You can also favorite and share resources with your class and colleagues. Best of all, PBS LearningMedia’s basic service is free for PreK-12 educators and is fully compatible with Google Classroom.

Kahn Academy

Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.

Boclips for Teachers

Boclips for teachers is a vault of over two million educational videos from vetted video producers. Search for a video with a keyword. You can save the videos you like in a Boclip account. The fact that these are vetted and you won’t see other videos not related to your search is significant. Boclips is in Beta form right now so they may ask you to complete a short survey. Register as a Teacher.

cK-12

CK-12 is committed to providing free access to open-source content and technology tools that empower students as well as teachers to enhance and experiment with different learning styles, resources, levels of competence, and circumstances. There are high quality, free interactive simulations aiming to explain core concepts. Teachers can assign lessons, videos etc. directly to Google Classroom. More than 100,000 teacher-created digital textbooks are now available online through the CK-12 Foundation’s free STEM content and tools platform.

Classkick

Classkick is a free app that students work on and get help instantly from their teacher and/or peers. Students can work on assignments with their Chromebooks, laptops or iPads. Start a class, give students the code, post an assignment and you can see all students working at once. Zoom in on a student to help.

ClassTools

ClassTools offers online game, quiz, and concept map generators to use in any classroom with any subject. Templates make it easy. NO registration is necessary. Just start right in! Make games public on their website or blog using the link provided upon completion. Templates include Fakebook, Tweet Generator, an SMS conversation (text message) simulator, QR Treasure Hunt, Fishbone, Random Name Generator, Burger Diagram (essay writing), Countdown Timer, and many more. Use the dropdown box to view the complete list of tools or search for a template. Follow the easy step-by-step directions provided. Some items are now considered as premium options which require payment; however, much of the site is free. Avoid the tools with the yellow "premium" banner on the top-right portion of the icon. This site includes advertising.
