We need to recognize our surroundings and be informed about things that are currently happening in our world, and if you do, you will notice ads about Pennsylvania electing a new governor and senator. Douglas Mastriano and Joshua Shapiro are running for governor, Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman are running for senator.

When it comes to politics, it means lies and fake news. Why? Because politicians want to win the election, and lots of them were and are doing that by lies. And sure enough, these people are lying. For example, a political ad says that the “Far Left” John Fetterman is going to release all the criminals and fill America with convicts, whilst what the candidate actually wanted to say is that he will lower the incarceration rate so that people are less likely to commit crimes.

However, kids don’t believe these political lies. Remi, Grade 7, said, “It’s dramatic that adults believe these ads while kids don’t.” While these deceptive ads persuade lots of adults to vote for people they don’t actually want to, kids see these ads clearly.

Our country’s democracy is brilliant. But we have to think that there are some problems, like how politicians accuse each other of atrocities they haven’t committed at will. We should set up verification to prevent us from deception, like many social media sites including Twitter.
