        • highlight thesis
        • highlight any words in the body paragraphs that relate to the thesis.
        • highlight in a DIFFERENT color the rhetorical devices covered in each paragraph.
        • highlight in a DIFFERENT color everywhere the author writes about HOW devices are used (this is the analysis and the place where the author answers the prompt.)
  • Read 9/11 speech.
        • Write a thesis explaining how President Bush uses rhetorical strategies to develop the meaning of his speech. (Remember to identify the meaning and then the terms that MOST develop the meaning.)
        • Then, write a brief outline, outlining which devices you would use.

Homework: Make a list of the words you struggled with most on the vocab quiz. Then, define the words and come up with a DIFFERENT example than the one listed on the vocab list. You can turn this in on Docs, Slides, Quizlet, index cards, or any other means you find would be helpful in studying for your test.
