Scheduling and Registration

Scheduling

Students must register in the equivalent of at least 9 full time courses including Religion 15. Due to our 5 period schedule, it is possible to take the equivalent of 10 full time courses however we encourage students to take 1 or 2 quarter spares each year as this will allow you time to work on other studies in the Learning Commons.

Spares - It is common for grade 10 students to have spares. Though parents don't often like to see spares in their grade 10 child's schedule, it is normal due to our 5 period schedule.

Students requesting one of the Advanced Placement courses – English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Art – do so in consultation with their junior high counselor. Generally, the student must have an 80% or higher in the grade 9 level course to take the Advanced Placement course at the high school level.

Registration

Incoming grade 10 students are asked to refer to the 2021-2022 Registration Guide for a description of all courses offered. Please note that any course in the guide is subject to cancellation if there is insufficient enrollment. The fees listed will be undergoing a review and may be adjusted.

Reminder: Students must successfully complete Religious Education 15, 25 and 35, in addition to Alberta Learning requirements, to be eligible for the graduation ceremonies.

A new grade 10 student may not take a grade 11 course. The only exception to this is Biology 20AP/Biology 20. A new grade 10 student who signs up for Science 10AP/Science 10 first semester must also sign up for Biology 20 AP/Biology 20 second semester. All special considerations must go through the Grade 10 VP.
