Religious Studies

Grade 10 Religious Studies

The principal aim of Christ and Culture is to assist students, with the help of the Gospel, to participate as Christians in the shaping of our culture. The program explores major cultural issues from a Christological perspective. Beginning with their own life experiences, students acquire a deeper and more systematic knowledge of themselves, Christ’s message, and the Church.

Connections between the Church and contemporary culture are explored in terms of what it means to be a responsible adolescent developing as a member of a Catholic, Christian community while living within the context of a broader culture. Prerequisite: None.

The Religious Studies program at Bishop McNally offers an opportunity for students to explore, question, and reflect on their faith as they navigate their spiritual journey. Our goal is to support students in deepening their faith, whether it is through engaging classroom teaching and learning, educational field trips, inspiring and informative guest speakers, participating in class liturgies, completing multimodal projects, learning through film, or collaborating with peers.

Students at Bishop McNally will have the opportunity to emerge from this program with a deeper relationship with Christ and be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will help foster Christian discipleship through their words, thoughts, and actions.
