On February 12, what started out as a normal lunch time in the cafeteria quickly changed. A student began choking while eating their lunch. Later I would learn from Mrs. Tovar that the student had stood up and was motioning to his head. She ran over and immediately begin hitting the student on the back and giving the student the Heimlich maneuver. She was able to dislodge the food and the student was able to take a breath. What was noted by all was Mrs. Tovar remained calm and composed during the entire situation.
On Saturday, February 28th, our Lake Dallas Band students participated in the Region 2 UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest at Ryan High School
