Chief Operations Officer provided a report of the past year for the Student Health Advisory Commitee (SHAC)
This committee consists of 12 parents and 4 LDISD staff members
They meet 4 times per school year
Report reviewed health programs, partnerships (North Texas Child Advocacy Center, Boys & Girls Club), and topics of discussion, such as screen time, conflict resolution, and child nutrition updates
Chief Financial Officer Anne Haehn presented the monthly budget update, with a few key updates and reminders:
Proposed Tax Rate is the same as last year (The M&O tax rate is provided by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), The I&S tax rate is based on community approved bond payments)
Total Proposed Tax Rate: $1.2552
Proposed M&O (TEA): $0.7552
Proposed I&S (Bond): $0.50
Reminder: TEA calculates the state maximum compressed tax rate
Taxable values increased slightly from the Denton County Appraisal District (Higher property values does not mean more overall General Fund revenue)
Non payroll expenditures were adjusted to accommodate increases in insurance policies
Payroll expenditures were adjusted to accommodate the newly implemented Teacher Retention Allotment
Bond Update: Recent refinancing saved $4.83 million in interest costs, boosting total savings since 2012 to nearly $37.7 million
LDISD Administration also presented updates on the following:
2025–26 Student Handbook – Reviewed updates on parental consent requirements, library material requests, firearm storage laws, and student rights.
Construction Update – Status reports on district facilities projects.
Projects are completed or nearing final completions on the LDHS Band hall expansion, new Career and Technical Education Center, and LDHS CTE classrooms
The board also reviewed and acted on several other items, approving the following with unanimous passing votes of 5-0.
