School Board Appreciation Month

January is School Board Appreciation Month, and our students wanted to make sure our Board members know just how much their leadership and dedication mean. To say thank you, students presented the Board with custom artwork, signed team photos, and donations to the Lake Cities Education Foundation made in their honor—all in celebration of the people who help our Falcons soar.

Outstanding School Board Finalist for the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award

The Lake Dallas ISD Board of Trustees has been named one of the five finalists out of 1,200 school districts in the state of Texas for the School Board of the Year HEB Excellence in Education Award! The winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony on Sunday, May 3, and the winning school board will receive a prize of up to $25,000!

Each year, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program awards cash prizes to honor outstanding public school professionals, and to thank them for their dedication and commitment. Through this program, H-E-B seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile every day to serve their students and their communities and who inspire others to do the same.

Since the program’s inception in 2002, H-E-B has awarded almost $15 million in funding to outstanding Texas teachers, counselors, principals, public schools, early childhood centers, school boards and school districts.

2025 district christmas card cover art contest winner

LDISD opened a contest to all students to submit their own original artwork to be featured on the district's Christmas Card that was sent to supporters of the district and district partners. Over 70 entires were submitted and voted on by administrators throughout the distrcit.

We were thrilled to recognize the winner of this year's contest, 6th Grader Jonah Evans!

LDisd Teachers and employees of the month

Each month, we recognize a teacher and employee of the month from each campus and district department! The Board takes time to recognize these individuals during the meeting.

Other Business and information items

The public hearing was held to review the 2024-2025 Texas Academic Performance Reports.

LDISD Administration also presented updates on the following:

- - Chief of Staff Mollie Avelino formally introduced the Board of Trustees to Athletic Director/Head Football Coach, Jeremy Males
  - Chief of LDISD Police Chadd Springer presented an update on the Police Department and strategic plan.

The board also reviewed and acted on several other items, approving the following with unanimous passing votes of 7-0.

  - Approval of Resolution of the Lake Dallas ISD submission to the Criminal Justice Grant Program

  - Approval of 2024-2025 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
  - Approval of 2026-2027 Academic Calendar
  - Approval of Floor Installation Services for Lake Dallas Elementary and Shady Shores Elementary
  - Approval of TASB Policy Update 126
  - Approval of action regarding finding in accordance with Texas Education Agency Code Section 21.210(c)(2) 19 Texas Administrative Code 249.14(j), that good cause did not exist for Cameron Hogan, term contract teacher, to abandon his employment contract, position and attempt to resign from Lake Dallas ISD
  - Approval of action regarding notification to the State Board for Educator Certification of term contract teacher Cameron Hogan concerning abandonment of his employment contract and seeking sanctions for abandonment of his position
