Sustained Investigation #14

Lillith's Return Sculpture.

I wanted to add a little more than I usually do with the environment of each piece, so I added a clay slab with stairs coming out to give the illusion of being in a sort of palace that the character is situated in. It took many days to come up with the final product that I now have, I had to start off by making the background and measuring the character to be able to fit within the background. I used clay to make all the props essential to this character and what her story is, before using acrylic paint to add color and texture. Lillith's hair was a new texture I wanted to work with as I have never done curly hair before and was curious about how I would make it work. This is probably my most large sculpture yet, along with the tripod effect I made with her dress so that she could stand properly and not fall over during the painting process. The body itself is made entirely out of clay with the background having a few non-clay props added to it to give it a sort of effect of being a palace. There were certain materials I wanted to use but when I tried to apply them, it didn't work out as well.
