New Vision of an Old Project

Zeph Recreation.

For this piece we were asked to recreate an old piece that we weren't as proud of, so I did one that made me angry and in the end didn't make me happy with the final result. This character Zeph is definitely one of my favorites and I felt I didn't do him justice with the last remake, so I decided to change for the better. In the end, im super proud of the work I did that went into designing and choosing materials for the end result. I'm thrilled with the way he turned out and so glad I was able to give him a third chance for my sculptures. His design is inspired by Russian cavalry armor because I befriended an armor expert online and they were able to give me many ideas for armor for the different regions of the story world I'm working on. Since the design is based on russian assets then I figured I could add a few elements to give it that old feeling to it, as well as adding my own spark of history to make it feel really a part of my touch. At first it was stressful because all the little hairs kept falling off and I figured I would never finish it by the time it was due, so I chose to take a step back for a day and work on it rather than any other project in my mind. This made it so I wouldn't have to be stressed out and rush it like I did with the last one of him, so I could have more control and be able to work on it without my hands shaking and messing up the painting process. This piece was made with polymer clay, various colorful beads, rocks, fake flowers, and acrylic paint.
