At the centre of everything we do at Leigh Academy Blackheath is the belief that our students will succeed in life if given the opportunity to develop as global citizens, developing key aspects of their character; these are known as the Learner Profile attributes.
As you are aware, we have been preparing over the last two years for IB authorisation, so that we can officially become an International Baccalaureate World school. As part of delivering the Middle Years Programme (MYP), we encourage our students to develop empathy for the world around them and to learn how to learn so they can be lifelong learners, who boasts curiosity for other ways of living. As a means for our students to understand their place in society, we offer them opportunities to participate in Community Projects to serve their community. Do not hesitate to contact the school, should you have any suggestion regarding a Community Project our students could lead or take part in.
At LAB, the teaching of concepts is taught horizontally and vertically, creating cross curricular links between subject clusters; which, in turn, enhances the deep understanding and learning of new information, allowing students to apply their knowledge within different contexts.
