Student engagement has remained very high with almost 90% of students submitting work to an excellent standard each week. I am so proud of you all for this achievement; well done. Working remotely is difficult for everyone and to see you all working so hard and producing such great quality work is testament to your scholarship and ambition. Well done Fawcett.
I would also like to thank parents and carers once again. The Fawcett team really appreciates how hard you are working; juggling your own work, your children’s school work and the many other responsibilities in the home at this time. With us soon to enter the fifth week of home-schooling we understand that things may be taking their toll on our student’s well being. In recognition of this, our PSHE and tutor time resources have been especially designed to include a larger focus on wellbeing. This week we have asked students to complete a wellbeing questionnaire, so that students can let our pastoral teams know more about how we can support their wellbeing. There is a range of pastoral support available for our students from tutors, our SSMs and our wider College Team. Please encourage your child to complete the above questionnaire so that we can gather as much information as possible about how we can reach out more to support our students.
Engagement texts will be sent on Monday morning to celebrate those students who have worked exceptionally hard in week four. Please also look out for LAB post through your doors soon as we celebrate students who have consistently produced work of a high standard and submitted it on time.
Below you will find some examples of student work completed by students in Fawcett.
Please read on to the end of this page to find out our Student of the Week nominations and Winner!
Eye drawing by Miles, 7D
Drawing is one of my favourite hobbies, especially designing shoes. I drew this piece through a digital illustration app called Adobe Art.
Some top tips for designing drawings would be doing drawing warm ups. Here you begin drawing without overthinking it too much. Just enjoy the process and then later have a look back at what you have created. These ‘warm ups’ will help you come up with great ideas on what to draw.
A poem by Leon, 8A
"Tale of The Green."
Let me tell you a tale once told,
The high rise camp left bitter and cold.
But through my eyes I see the green fields sway,
The morning breath takes upon my gaze.
The falling rivers, as I stand up high,
Take away these chains and let me fly.
Soar through the clouds, as the sweet flowers bloom,
The weeping willows dangle in a late spring afternoon.
Still that place calls me, where I must go,
That blasted town all covered in snow.
What it feels to be free as a dove,
And imagine what it feels to be up above.
Paint me in a picture, capture my view,
Leave the rotting village and become something new.
The tale is told and the great country is a pleasure,
Because one man’s suffering is another man’s treasure.
