This term the children have been exploring storytelling and their creativity. We have explored stories such as Whatever Next! and Little Red Riding Hood. The children explore storytelling through acting and writing stories, some of the children even thought of ways to retell the story in their own way. We used maps to explore where Little Red Riding Hood might visit on her way to Grandma’s as she followed her route.
The children carried on their map work in maths where we used our learning on shapes and positions to draw a map of our bedroom and together we drew a map of the Dartford area thinking how we could use blocks to represent our map.
The children have explored famous artists Vassily Kandisky and Giuseppe Arcimbaldo. Kandisky makes clever art with shapes including triangles and circles and the children worked together to make one of his famous paintings. Arcimbaldo makes fascinating portraits using fruit and vegetables so the children cut up some to have a go at making their own. This is very different to the portraits we were drawing of ourselves back in Term 1.
In Science, the children have been exploring ramps and seeing how the height of the ramp affects how the car travels down it. We also experimented with ice and how it changed when we added salt or hot water to it.
We finished off our year with some fantastic memories. The children had their sports day and whilst the rain tried to ruin our fun the children thoroughly enjoyed it! During our final week we had our beach trip and teddy bears picnic. We finished off the year with a class party to celebrate the fantastic journey the children have been on together!
We are so proud of each and every one of them!
Have a lovely summer holiday.
