◆ The Creative Writing course is offered to all high school students who have a sincere interest in composing fiction/creative nonfiction in a variety of the disciplined literary art forms (e.g., short story, poetry, drama). Students will participate in workshops with fellow writers to enable further study of writing craft. . EL12814 CREATIVE WRITING II

Prerequisite: Creative Writing I
◆ The Creative Writing II course is offered to students who have successfully completed Creative Writing I and are interested in pursuing their craft further. Students will work on finishing a larger work such as a novel, novella, short story collection, or a collection of poems. As this class runs concurrently with Creative Writing I, students will also act as mentors to students in Creative Writing I. Participation in workshops will continue to be an essential part of this writing class. If desired, students will also have help pursuing publication. (1021)
EL22911 ACT/SAT INTENSIVE PREPARATION

Prerequisites: 10th - 12th Grade and students must be enrolled in Algebra 2 or a higher level math course.
◆ This is a college preparatory class designed to prepare the motivated student for the SAT and ACT college entrance exams. Students will receive preparation focused on intensive grammar, writing, and elementary to intermediate algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Throughout the semester, students will concentrate on intensive vocabulary development. The class will also cover test taking strategies and college preparation. The student will use SAT/ACT software. In addition, the students will take numerous SAT and ACT practice tests to minimize test anxiety, develop familiarity, and build confidence. Students taking this class are encouraged to take the ACT or SAT at the end of the semester. (0801)
