Many colleges have entrance requirements, which exceed LAHS graduation requirements. Some of the more selective colleges ask for four years of English, four years of science, four years of math and three years of a foreign language. The most selective colleges require very strong academic preparation and may expect students to take AP courses and AP exams whenever possible. Students are responsible for verifying entrance requirements for specific schools or state university systems to make sure that they will not have deficiencies on their transcript.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association governs the process and requirements for eligibility to participate in athletics at the college level. NCAA has very specific requirements for the TYPES of courses a student takes in high school, student test scores on ACT & SAT, high school GPA, and others.
