PARENT and FamilY Information

How can KSD Outreach benefit me and my child?

The KSD Outreach Educational Consultants are strategically placed across each region of Kentucky to ensure that all families and school districts have access to educational planning information for their students who are deaf or hard of hearing.   The primary benefit to being connected with an Outreach Consultant is information.  Consultants will provide families with resources that best meet the needs of their child and family.   This ensures that children have a foundation for language, regardless of the communication method chosen by the family.  This helps to empower parents to make informed decisions.

Consultants stay informed on best educational practices for students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing in order to provide strong support to your child's school district.  Consultants offer educational suggestions and recommendations based on your individual child's educational needs.

NEWSWORTHY NOTES

PARENTS!  DID YOU KNOW that full special education evaluations are available at KSD at no cost to families or school districts.  Requests must be initiated by the student's school district.  Evaluation slots fill up quickly, so planning in advance is critical to meeting evaluation timelines.

School districts should email Sarah.McCurry@ksd.kyschools.us to request evaluation scheduling.
