Student & Family Support Services Form
The Outreach Team at KSD provides a number of education services for families of students who are deaf/hard of hearing and their Local Education Agency (LEA). These include:
At the LEA's request, the Outreach Team will visit education programs and observe students in their natural environments. Team members will meet with local staff and parents to review suggestions and recommendations based on the observation and input from the family and school staff. At the conclusion of the observation period, team members will provide written summaries to LEA staff and parents.
LEA's may request on-site consultation by the Outreach Team. The On-Site Consultation involves an Outreach Team member conducting an observation and interview of staff who work with the student prior to a meeting with the local school team and parents. The team member may also be asked to collect data for additional information in Functional Hearing, Listening, and Communication. During the meeting, Outreach Team members will provide recommendations and resources for the LEA and family. Additionally, mentoring support is available for teachers of the deaf in Kentucky.
The Outreach Team is available to provide a variety of in-service programs to meet the needs of a LEA. These programs may be provided at the local district, regionally, or on the KSD campus.
KSD Outreach supplies and manages a lending library of materials related to sign language, literacy, and student learning. The lending library patrons include:
