Q: Why isn’t a parent/guardian showing up in ParentSquare?
A: Go to Synergy and check to see if these elements are included.
On the Parent/Guardian tab on the Student screen
A “Relation” is selected (it should not be blank)
Contact Allowed box is checked

Primary box is checked
A “Type” is selected (it should not be blank)
A Phone number is there
Q: How do I turn off comments on a post?
A: ParentSquare is a two-way form of communication. When a message is posted users can ask a follow-up question or make a comment. This article shows how to disable comments after posting: ParentSquare: Comments on a Post
Q: As an Admin, can I send a post as a Department and not as an individual?
Yes, you would have to set up a Department and use the “Post As” feature once set up. Here are Support Articles on this:
Q: How do I update my Contact Information as a Staff Member?
A: Information can be updated by going to the Employee Self-Service Kiosk by going to https://ess.kernhigh.org
(There is a one-time verification process that will require staff to provide their employee ID and the net pay amount from their current pay advice to use the portal).
Q: I have a student also in the Kern High School District or another district that uses ParentSquare?
A: If you have multiple ParentSquare accounts—such as one for each child at different schools or a separate staff account—you can now switch between them seamlessly without logging out. This article provides an overview on switching accounts: ParentSquare: Switch Accounts in ParentSquare
Q: Will parents and students see my personal information?
A: No. contact information cannot be seen by other users (except school and district admin). ParentSquare: Show/Hide Email and Phone Number
Q: What does the secondary number mean?
A: It’s the number used if District or Staff Admin issues an Urgent Alert (these are used for emergencies such as a lockdown).
Q: I don’t want to be notified on my phone, how do I adjust my notification settings?

Q: How do I set up Office Hours?
A: Set up Office Hours to silence Direct Message notifications outside of your working hours. Sign into ParentSquare to view any unread messages sent outside of Office Hours. Here is an article about it: ParentSquare: Set Office Hours for Messages
