August 26-30
Dear FES Families,
It's been a great first full week at FES! I have loved seeing our students jump into learning new skills and working together! I am so proud of how quickly they have learned our FES expectations and what great classmates and students they are being. We have even had the opportunity to celebrate several Fabulous Falcons, who are students that have been outstanding and are recognized for their hard work, their kindness, and their commitment to our FES expectations. Students are beginning to collect Falcon Bucks as they are recognized for the wonderful things they do. It's been a great start to the school year!
We have had the opportunity to finally enjoy some outside time on our playgrounds, as the heat has lessened a bit this week and there's nothing like the sounds of joy of kids playing together! We continue to encourage students to drink water and remain hydrated and ask that you send your child each day with a leakproof water bottle (no straw cups).
Thank you, once again, to parents for joining us for our orientation meetings earlier this week. I loved seeing you all and appreciate the time that you took to come and hear from your child's teachers! We value the partnership with you and are here for any questions or concerns that you may have.
In Falcon Spirit!

Any student who arrives after 7:55 AM must enter through the front office (door 1) and be checked in by our office. If you arrive after 7:55 on the K,1,2 side of the parking lot, there will not be adults present to help them enter the building and you will need to go to the main entrance to drop off your child.
If you are picking up in our south parking lot in front of the building, if you turn right to go toward Johnson Rd., as you approach the north parking lot entrance, you will be asked to wait as the north parking lot traffic enters and exits in order to keep the line moving. To avoid this, we would suggest that our 3rd/4th grade families picking up in front would instead, turn left, and then turn right on Gray Lane and Right on Pearson to go to Johnson. This will help with the flow of traffic at Johnson and our north parking lot. We appreciate your courtesy and patience as our staff members work to support the safe departure of our students.
Beginning on Monday, at times, our 4th grade students may have the opportunity to purchase an extra lunch in the cafeteria when there is excess. If you DO NOT want your child to have the opportunity to purchase an extra meal, you must log into your child's cafeteria account and select that preference, otherwise, students may be offered extras, when available and according to the extra distribution rotation schedule. https://kellerisd.sodexomyway.com/
We love having our parents and family members joining our students at lunch time. For the first couple of weeks, however, we encourage you to wait until the third week, as lunch is a great opportunity for students to get to know their new classmates and friends and especially for our younger students to adjust to the routines and procedures. When you come to join us for lunch, please keep in mind:
Please plan to arrive a few minutes early, as you will need to check into the Raptor system with your government issued ID. You can wait in the office until it is your child's lunch time and then join them in the cafeteria.
We have a special set of tables reserved specifically for our students to sit with their parents. For capacity reasons as we now have some grades that overlap in lunch times, as well as for confidentiality and potential allergens, only your child may join you for lunch.
You may bring food for your child only. Please do not bring food to share with other students, as there may be allergies or dietary restrictions.
While we appreciate a phone call letting us know your child is absent, with the updated Attendance procedures, we will now request a written explanation of absences for each day a child is absent. This may be an email sent to Tyler.Lamon@kellerisd.net or a written note that is sent upon your child's return.
Change in Over-the-Counter Medication Administration
Keller ISD nursing staff is changing how it administers over-the-counter medication to students this school year. Due to new guidance from the Texas Board of Nursing, schools must now have both parent authorization and physician authorization for a school nurse to administer over-the-counter medications to students.
Previously, Keller ISD nursing staff could administer over-the-counter medications for less than 10 days with just a parent or guardian’s request, so we understand this represents a significant change for many families. Please note that all medications require a physician’s authorization annually – whether it is an over-the-counter or prescription medication.
Click here to learn more about this change in medication administration.
Additionally, if you would like to bring your child medication and give it to your child, this must take place in the nurse's office and may not be given in the cafeteria, classroom, or other locations in the building.
Parents are always welcome at FES! If you are interested in volunteering, you must fill out the Keller ISD Volunteer Application. All FES visitors are required to enter at door #1, go through the front office, provide picture identification, and obtain a visitor badge before proceeding to any part of the building which must be worn in a visible area for the duration of the time on campus. Office staff will verify the visitor is a parent, guardian, or approved contact for a student. Guests are only allowed in designated areas to minimize disruption of the learning environment and may not go throughout the building, to the playground, or classrooms. Guests are required to exit the building through the office during school hours. We value and appreciate guests and all volunteers at FES!
The KISD Math department has put together a guide for parents to see what your child is learning in math, including an overview, important concepts and common misconceptions. It also includes ideas of how to support your child's learning at home. Simply click on your child's grade level link to see the curriculum overview and information.
If you have not participated in our Fun Run, you are in for a treat! This is one of the major fundraisers from FES’s PTA. that goes to support classroom resources, grants for teachers for school initiatives, and programs including field trips and campus activities.
Beginning today, students will receive pledges for the number of laps they will complete during the glow run event that will be held on September 13th. Booster does an incredible job in making this a fun, family event. No donation is too big or too small and all help us achieve our goal of raising $30,000 in support of our school! We are grateful to our families and extended falcon families as you share this information with all all of those loved ones who support our students!
On the day of our Fun Run, parents are encouraged to join us during their child(ren)’s designated co-curr and cheer them on! Families will be required to check in prior to entering the Fun Run area. You will need to provide your driver’s license in order to check-in. More details to come!
