December 9 - December 13
Dear FES Families,
The holiday season is upon us and we are rounding out our first half of the year with merriment and wonder! This week, has been a shining example of the traditions, opportunities, memories, and learning that we share in that make Florence such a magical place to be! Yesterday, we celebrated the joy of hearing from our incredibly talented Falcon Choir and Magical Marimbas students who dazzled on stage during our morning assembly and last night at the community program.
Our R.O.C.K. Club and STUCO packed up the over 970 food items that were donated during our food drive this last month! The spirit of giving continued as our office turned into our very own version of the North Pole with hundreds of gifts pouring in to help families in need of assistance this holiday season through our Angel Tree donations. Thank you to everyone for your incredible generosity and support of our community! You will certainly bring smiles to the faces of many children on Christmas morning!
Our very own students had the opportunity to share in the spirit of giving, as they visited the Penguin Patch and shopped for their loved ones and wrapped each gift with a note and care! Thank you to Jenny's Penguin Patch for your incredible donations to each of our teachers' treasure boxes and for your generosity and pouring proceeds from the event into Florence through our incredible PTA!
We had enriching conversations around our campus alignment with our district's 5-over-5 Goals and took an introspective look at our existing processes, procedures, and communication to determine areas of strength and opportunity and to clarify ways to enrich our partnership with our FES families. With MAP testing underway, we are also excited to receive progress monitoring data that will help us to monitor both individual and campus growth from the beginning of the year until now.
Our FES teachers and staff were gifted with the gift of time as our PTA Hospitality team of volunteers transformed our conference room into our very own Spa, treating our teachers and staff to chair massages, a warm beverage, and a sweet treat; a perfect way to end another exciting week! Our teachers and staff also kicked of the fun of a staff celebration of 12 days of cheer, with festive dress up days for staff to show our spirit for our students and to share in some fun during the busy conclusion of the quarter.
Next week, we hope to see families at our Spirit night at Big Shots Golf on Sunday, and look forward to STUCO's annual Candy Cane Gram sales! We will also be cheering on our school spelling bee P-A-R-T-I-C-I-P-A-N-T-S! Have a wonderful weekend!
In Falcon Spirit,

Progress Reports for grades 2 through 4 are available in Aeries. Please take a look and reach out to your childs teacher with any questions you may have.
Please be sure that your child is coming to school with weather appropriate clothing including a jacket or a coat, as they will continue to attend recess outside when the temperature falls within our district policy. Please be sure to label all coats, jackets, and winter accessories with your child's name as this is the time of year where our lost and found tends to grow!
As we monitor the temperature and weather, we may move to an alternate or indoor recess plan, depending on the circumstances. Under district policy, students will not go outside if temperatures or heat index are at or above 98 degrees Fahrenheit or if the wind-chill or temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. If temperatures are between 32-40 degrees outside activity will be limited to 20 minutes. If Ozone levels reach red of purple, there will be no outside activity. Students will participate in activities in the classrooms or flex space and will have a choice of games, hands on activities, movement and other options. (Not an iPad time)
We are so thankful for the incredible generosity and support of our FES Angel Tree! SO many families will be blessed this holiday season. Thank you! Reminder: wrapped gifts with angel tree tag attached are due 12/6!
Florence Student Council will be selling Candy Cane Grams Dec. 13-19th before school for $1 each. Proceeds will benefit Florence Elementary. Funds last year were used to purchase recess equipment.

Sodexo has received several concerns regarding the printed menu reflecting options which are either substituted or changed completely on the serving line due to product unavailability or use of State provided commodity items. While Sodexo strives to minimize the number of changes to the menu, they are still at the mercy of product manufacture shortages and logistical challenges from all providers which places a burden on the program to provide the menu as previously planned.
To improve the communication of menu changes Sodexo has recently launched new and improved online menus for Keller ISD through Nutrislice at https://kellerisd.nutrislice.com/menus-eula .
This change will provide students, staff and families the most up-to-date printable and digital menus that are reflective of any changes that need to be made to the menus.
Did you hear? There are FIVE choices for lunch each day this year!
https://kellerisd.sodexomyway.com/
What time is breakfast? Breakfast will begin at 7:25. The line will close at 7:50 for students to be in class at 7:55.
What is offered? This school year Sodexo will be offering 3 hot side options and 2 cold side options.
How do I add money to my child’s cafeteria account? You may place money on your child's lunch account by setting up an account for them on School Cafe. The link is below and you will need your student's ID # to do so.

This may be an email sent to Tyler.Lamon@kellerisd.net or a written note that is sent upon your child's return. An absence is considered to be a partial absence any time that a student leaves early or arrives later than the first 15 minutes of the day and parents may utilze a parent excuse for these if there is not documentation.
