November 18 - November 22
Dear FES Families,
There are few things sweeter than the sound of 476 voices singing together in angelic harmony in recognition of our Veterans and First Responders. Driving into our front driveway that was lined with 1000 American Flags started our week off in a festive spirit of gratitude, which continued as our Veterans and First responders joined in our program. It was such an honor for us to share in celebrating these incredible men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving, protecting, and leading so that we are able to safely and freely learn and work. Thank you to the Short family for sharing your flags and to several of our FES families who volunteered your time to set them up and clear them out and to Mrs. Randklev and her committee of PTA volunteers who decorated and provided breakfast for our honored guests!
This week, we also conducted our STAAR interim test for our 3rd and 4th grade students in math and reading and our students did a great job focusing on doing their best and we look forward to utilizing the results to determine areas where students may need additional support and reinforcement as a class or individually.
Parents, as the weather begins to cool down, please be sure your child is coming to school dressed for outdoor play with a coat or a jacket. This is the time of year when our lost and found tends to grow, so please be sure to label all jackets and sweatshirts with your child's first and last name so that they can be identified, if lost.
We look forward to continuing our spirit of gratitude next week with our Thanksgiving lunch and hope that you will be able to join us on Friday! Please be sure to register by Tuesday if you plan to attend. We can't wait to share in this special day of gratitude with the Falcon Family!
In Falcon Spirit,
Courtney Brandel
Principal, Florence Elementary School

"Mrs. Jencopale cares so deeply for each of her students. She is patient, kind, and works hard to make sure her students are set up for success. We appreciate her!"- Meredith, Parent
"Mrs. Jones has gone above and beyond for my girl during a very sudden, and difficult time. Mrs. Jones has not only allowed a safe and comfortable environment where she can let out her emotions and understand them, but as well as gave her all the love that she has needed. I cannot express all of my gratitude for her."- Cortney, Parent

We can't wait to celebrate Thanksgiving as a Falcon Family on November 22nd during student lunch times and are excited to have our Falcon families join in on the celebration meal and sharing in gratitude together!
Arrival: Please check in through the tables at our main entrance using your photo ID. We kindly ask that all parents and guests wait in the main hallway until the previous grade level has cleared out of the previous lunch time and our custodians have had a chance to reset and clean the area. Once the cafeteria is clear, parents may enter the cafeteria and find any table marked for guests. Please note, the two tables closest to the cafeteria will remain reserved for those students who will eat with their class instead of a guest.
Those who pre-registered for a meal will receive a sticker indicating that you are purchasing a meal. You will proceed through the cafeteria line with your child. (Please be sure to deposit $4.50 per adult meal in your child's Sodexo account by November 19th.) If you are not purchasing a meal, then you may proceed straight to any available table.
Departure: We ask that when students line up to leave, our parents and guests please exit through the courtyard doors to allow for our main entrance to remain open for our next grade level to arrive.
Campus Thanksgiving Meal

Sodexo has received several concerns regarding the printed menu reflecting options which are either substituted or changed completely on the serving line due to product unavailability or use of State provided commodity items. While Sodexo strives to minimize the number of changes to the menu, they are still at the mercy of product manufacture shortages and logistical challenges from all providers which places a burden on the program to provide the menu as previously planned.
To improve the communication of menu changes Sodexo has recently launched new and improved online menus for Keller ISD through Nutrislice at https://kellerisd.nutrislice.com/menus-eula .
This change will provide students, staff and families the most up-to-date printable and digital menus that are reflective of any changes that need to be made to the menus.
Did you hear? There are FIVE choices for lunch each day this year!
https://kellerisd.sodexomyway.com/
What time is breakfast? Breakfast will begin at 7:25. The line will close at 7:50 for students to be in class at 7:55.
What is offered? This school year Sodexo will be offering 3 hot side options and 2 cold side options.
How do I add money to my child’s cafeteria account? You may place money on your child's lunch account by setting up an account for them on School Cafe. The link is below and you will need your student's ID # to do so.

While we appreciate a phone call letting us know your child is absent, with the updated Attendance procedures, we will now request a written explanation of absences for each day they were absent.
This may be an email sent to Tyler.Lamon@kellerisd.net or a written note that is sent upon your child's return. An absence is considered to be a partial absence any time that a student leaves early or arrives later than the first 15 minutes of the day and parents may utilze a parent excuse for these if there is not documentation. Please see the Keller ISD Attendance 101 for more information. https://www.kellerisd.net/students-families/resources/students-families-resources/attendance-truancy
