Following Instructions.
What we are learning: Learning to read and write instructions so that you or someone else can follow them is really important. This week we are going to practice writing and following instructions.
Below are two types of Instructions in book form. One is a Recipe book, the other is a book on how to make greeting cards.
Read through each. You do not have to read cover to cover but make sure you pick out parts that have lots of instructions.

WHAT IS A BOOK BLURB: A book blurb (also called a “back-cover blurb” or a “book description”) is a short description of the book's main character and conflict, usually between 100 and 200 words, that traditionally is included on the inside cover or on the back of a book.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A BOOK BLURB. Look at the parts in it. It gives a small taste of what the story or article is. It also tries to make you interested in what might happen in the story. You are almost trying to advertise the story and make people want to read it.
After reading through the instruction books above, write a short blurb about both. Don't make this too short. Very close to 100 words at least.
(AGAIN you don't have to read every single word in the recipe book but do pick out at least 4 or 5 recipes and see how easy or hard it is to follow the recipes or instructions.
Put your Blurbs on your Reading VNB. DON'T forget to include the date and title.
This article, "Making a Sign." is just like a set of instructions on how to make a sign.
Read through the article and make your own sign about one of the following topics.
Our School Values
Some sort of Covid staying safe sign. (Eg. Wash your hands, cough into your elbow.)
A warning sign about the hazards of entering our classroom.

Get creative Tasks:
We want to create the Kereru Cookbook. Most families have one or two recipes that they make that are really wonderful. For Mrs Abbott, it is her amazing famous Marshmallow slice. For Mr Abbott, it is his amazingly fluffy pancakes. Collect at least two from your family and put them on the "KERERU COOKBOOK SLIDES." Make sure you include pictures to, and an ingredients list. Good Luck. See the COOKBOOK Below.
Find your family's 2 favourite recipes. Cook them if you can. (but you don't have too), They don't have to be complicated, it might be as simple as tonight's Butter chicken recipe.
Put them on a Google Slide, Custom size. 8 x 11. (Don't put them straight into our Class cookbook do them on your own then copy and paste them into the cookbook.
Make sure your spelling and grammar is good, and that you have pictures. One of the finished product is especially good.
Look back at the recipe book above to see if you have laid out your recipes with the ingredients first then the instructions on how to cook the dish.
Make sure to create your page on a Slide in your own drive. DO NOT WRITE YOUR PAGE STRAIGHT ONTO THE BOOK -->
ONCE you have checked your recipe has no spelling mistakes and you have at least 2 pictures and one extraordinary Finished product picture copy and paste your page into the cookbook using this link.
