Among Seesaw's most powerful features is its ability to establish clear, safe, and private communication with the families of your students. It's just as simple to send out class-wide announcements as it is to have a private chat with a parent about a student's progress.
Use this tutorial to learn more about Seesaw's amazing communication features.

1. Sending announcements to all of your families at once is easy! First, click the green "Add" button.
2. Click "Send Announcement".
3. In the next window, use the drop-down menu to choose whether the announcement will be visible to all students, all family members, or everyone.
4. Type out your announcement or reminder. If you would like to include some form of attachment (such as a PDF or video), click the "+ Add Attachment" button and use the appropriate tool to attach or record your file.
5. Click the "Send Now" button. That's it! Your announcement has been sent. To view it, click the "Inbox" tab on your main dashboard.

IMPORTANT: Note that families cannot message you until you have messaged them first! If you wish for families to be able to initiate communication first, we recommend sending a class-wide announcement welcoming families to Seesaw. See the instructions above.
1. From your class dashboard, select the "Inbox" tab.
2. In the student list that appears below, select the name of the student whose family you wish to send a message to.
3. A messaging pane will appear on the left. If you have communicated with this family before, previous messages will appear (including any class-wide communications). Type any messages you wish to send to the individual family in the "Message [FAMILY MEMBER]" field (their name will disappear as you type).
4. If you wish to add any attachments, such as a photo, video, or PDF, you can do so by clicking the blue "+" button next to the message field. A list of tools for creating attachments will appear. Select the appropriate one.
5. When you're done, click "Send". That's it!
