The spotlight is on Mr. Ashton Hutchinson, coming all the way from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Mr. Hutchinson is a graduate from THE University of Southern Mississippi. This might be his first year teaching, but he is already managing to juggle Life Science, Physical Science, and Biology I with ease. His inspiration for teaching came from some of his past teachers. These teachers spoke the truth and helped him with the skills he needed to succeed. He intends to do the same for his students, which makes their generation ready for what life has to come outside of a school setting. His goal for the year is to settle into this new environment and make an impact on every one of his students' lives. Fun Fact: When he's not fighting to help these students thrive, he is working on his garden in Old Metairie.
Mr. Matthew Weaver teaches an Introduction to Ethics and Philosophy class. He has traveled from Georgia, South Carolina, and finally found his place here at John Curtis. Mr. Weaver is a pastor at Vintage Church. Spreading the Gospel through local churches inspired him to teach the word of God. He's giving children the chance to live life with the way of Jesus before they graduate and are on their own. His goal for the year is to help his students find a connection with the lord. Thus, helping them live a more beautiful life.
Coach Jay was a student at John Curtis from preschool and is now back to teach and coach. After graduating from John Curtis High School, Coach Jay continued his studies at the University of Dayton. Following in the footsteps of many of his family members, this is his first year teaching. He teaches computer science and physical education. He also coaches the linebacker position in football as well as the catcher position for the baseball team. One of his goals this year is to win the state championship for varsity baseball and football.
