What is the best piece of advice you have given to a player?

What aspects of football do you get most excited for and why?
Watching the guys compete on game night.
"To be quarterback, you have to be another coach on the field. You have to be responsible for getting your teammates to the right position to be successful. You also have to make quick decisions and communicate clearly to all 10 other teammates. I love my role on the team so I can lead my offense to success, getting us into the best plays based on what the defense is in. I am focused on winning the state championship this year and I hope to get an opportunity to go play at the next level somewhere. It's an honor to get the offensive spotlight, but all the credit should go to the unrecognized heroes, the offensive line. Without them, the skilled positions do not get the credit that they do every week."

"I coach the offensive line long with Coach Godfrey and Coach Middleton. Coaching the O-LINE is one of the most challenging spots to coach. That’s why there are three of us! 15-20 players in our group, 5-7, sometimes 8 guys on the field at once. All trying to execute their job. A job that requires everybody working in unison. The old saying is, “overworked and under-appreciated”. That’s us! Nobody is going to get their name in the paper. Nobody’s going to be the spotlight on the news, and that’s okay. We’re just fine with that. We know what gets everything going….It starts with us! I love coaching this group because it’s a bunch of big ole guys ready to go to work everyday. As a guy that has played the position, it’s easy to understand the frustration that these players feel, but it’s also exciting to see the pure happiness and success when done correctly. I’ve been coaching the last 13 years. 10 of those have been with the offensive line!"

How do you represent the team off the field?
Coach J.T. always talks about keeping a low profile outside of football. I think the best way I and every player represents the team is not by getting into all the commotion around us.
Is there a player that stood out to you tonight and why?
I think Mike had a great game tonight. We worked on some things all week that he implemented tonight.
What things can you work on at practice to help you improve something for the next game?
Somethings we need to work on as a team this week is getting more physical as long as we can outwork Karr physically, we will win.
What's the best piece of advice your coaches have given you?
The best advice I have ever recieved was by Coach Jeff. He said that the champion does his best, and then does a little more
What are your greatest strengths as a football player?
I think my best strength in football is my desision making on the field.
What do you coach?
Special Teams and Running Backs
What is something the boys did good on tonight?
Special Teams did an excellent job of executing the game plan. The main improvement is this entire unit is getting better everyday.
What is something the boys could work on this week at practice?
Special Teams can always be more physical and take better angles. This comes from making full speed adjustments.
What player stood out to you tonight and why?
I’m not a fan of pointing out any single player because it takes everyone on the field to be successful. The seniors have stepped up and have become great leaders that will take us to the Dome.
What is the best piece of advice you could give someone?
Success happens on “game day” because of your daily discipline
"I play running back. Running back is versatile position you need to be able to do multiple things at one position. I like my position because I am running the ball in my hands a lot, and I am a playmaker. I want to go to college somewhere in the south, I'm still not committed anywhere though. So far my season is going good, but can be better. I am grateful for being Senior Spotlight, it is an honor to be able to represent the school in the right way."

What are your greatest strengths as a football player?
Greatest strengths as a football player is that I'm always willing to learn and give great effort every time I'm on the field even off the field.
What is the best piece of advice a coach has given you?
Never give up because you never know when your turn might be or the opportunity you've been waiting for will present itself if you give up. so stay on course and run your own race your time is coming!
How do you think you played tonight? Why?
I played good. I played with great intensity and effort. but I also had a great week of preparation leading up to the game. Playing Karr again has been on my mind Since last year At home when we lost to them 38-6 so we wanted to beat them worse than that and we just did that
What is something you can improve on for playoffs?
Something I can improve on in the playoffs, Honestly everything like I said I'm always willing to learn, grow, and get better at some things I lack in but is our playoff run I got to take my game to the next level.
How do you represent the team off the field?
By keeping a low profile in school like coach JT said and being a role model to the people on the team.
What do you coach?
Defense/ Linebackers
How do you think the team played overall tonight?
We played our best game of the season, and hopefully, hitting full stride leading into playoffs
How do use the time in between games to get the team ready?
Meetings, watching film, and doing whatever it takes to help the team be prepared for the game.
Who stood out to you tonight?
AJ Smith. The whole defense played well, and AJ comes to mind first because he competes at a high level.
What is your favorite part about game day?
Watching all of the work we put in being executed in the game.
"To play as an outside linebacker, you need to have a lot of patience and discipline. Outside linebackers are the edge of defense, which means that we need to be disciplined and not let anyone outside of us. My season is going very well because I trust that we are on our way to win a state championship. I'm thinking about going to college at Louisiana Tech University. Being recognized as defensive spotlight feels great but the rest of the defense deserves as equal amount of recognition. Defense works like a puzzle. If one person is out of place, then the whole defense can crumble apart."
