Targets:
This week in algebra, we will continue Chapter 1 learning about single and multi-step equations. Students will be familiar with the terms variable, inverse operation, equivalent equations, solution, and linear equations. We will keep using reciprocals and learning when equations have infinite solutions or no solution. We will spend a little time reviewing before taking a quiz on 1.1-1.3. We will then move forward to our second half of the chapter, absolute value equations.

Targets: This week, we will wrap up our email etiquette mini-unit and will begin reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. This dystopian sci-fi novel is about a 12 year old boy named Jonas who is assigned to the distinguished role of the Receiver in his community. Throughout the reading of this story, we will explore important themes and analyze Jonas' character development.
Side note: If you have read The Giver, please refrain from sharing any spoilers!
