In less than a month, students in grades 3 through 8 will be participating in the State Assessments for English Language Arts, Math, and Science. This will be RI's second year administering the Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS) and the Next Generation Science Assessment (NGSS).
- RICAS is administered to all students in grades 3 -8 in English Language Arts and Math. It is aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and our Jamestown curriculum is also aligned to the CCSS.
- NGSS is only administered to students in grades 5 and 8 for Science. The assessment domains are physical science, life science, and earth and space science.
- Students with disabilities who qualify for an alternate assessment will take the RI Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) alternate assessment in ELA (gr. 3-8), Math (gr. 3-8), and Science (gr 5 & 8 only).
