What to expect, What's New and Exciting:

A collaboration with the Jamestown Arts Center for Melrose to participate in an Artist-In-Residence (A.I.R) to create an installation during a two-week residency with the students as part of its inaugural Outdoor Arts Experience. This is planned as a celebration of the Jamestown Art Center's 10th Anniversary.

Mrs. Connolly's concentration in Art this year will be "Arte del Espanol", artwork influenced by the artists, themes, music, and cultures of the Spanish language.

Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation will be offering after school sailing to grade 4 students this year.

PBIS- New Positive Acknowledgement System: Students will earn wolf paws for displaying expected behaviors across school settings. Each classroom will have their own poster. When a student earns a wolf paw, they inform their teacher, mark the chart, and take the wolf paw home to show their family. When a class earns 100 paws on their chart, the class earns a reward/celebration that they have chosen/are working towards. When each class earns 100 paws, a school-wide celebration or reward will occur.

Melrose School Playground: We are in year 2 of fundraising for our playground. We are planning to build a pathway at the entrance to the playground area. The walkway will be constructed with engraved pavers that can be personalized (individuals, families, or organizations/businesses).

Melrose School Improvement Team: We will have our first meeting on Tuesday, September 24th at 3:00 in the Melrose library. Please join us!

Building Updates:

Brand new roof with a 30 year warranty, 24 new Exhaust fans to support indoor air quality, 3 new HVAC units, Kitchen Hood upgrades, 55 doors rehung with continuous hinges with hold open magnets, replacement of 4,000 gallon heating oil tank, and carpet and tile replacement in some classrooms.
