For my I-Search project, I chose to research girls education in foreign countries. After doing this project, I learned that there are many girls in developing countries who, for many reasons, aren't receiving an education. Someone who helped me learn this was Mrs. Johnson. She worked at Lawn School last year and has done lots of work in foreign countries to improve the quality of education kids receive. She was kind enough to do a phone interview with me, which gave me lots of information. Something you can do to help these girls is donating to organizations like the Malala Fund, which use donations they receive to support girls education.

I am doing my I-project on Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a sometimes fatal, chronic disease. It affects the lungs, intestine, and exocrine glands (sweat and saliva are the two big glands). It was really fun to do, and it helped me because my mom has CF. So, Now I can help my mom by knowing what foods may help her.

For my I-Search Passion Project, I wanted to research what makes people happy. I learned that there are four main things that make people happy. Gratitude, forgiveness, kindness, and success. This project made me a much better researcher, writer, reader, and presenter. I think I will start a gratitude journal in the future, or start taking the time every day or week to thank anyone that deserves it.

For my project, I did the history and backstory of broadway. I learned a lot about famous producers and successful shows. I did learn that shows when Broadway first started were featuring “handsome and heroic” men and “beautiful” women but those gave out the wrong messages and told everyone that to be successful, you had to worry about your looks. Now it’s changed for the better because Broadway has become a platform for acting careers for lots of different people.
