ESE is a after school program that looks after children and helps them with homework, crafts, games, etc while parents are working late. ESE helps parents by watching after their children so they can effectively leave work without worrying about their children. However, ESE is more than an after school program. Their mission is to create a safe, convenient, and fun environment for children to interact and thrive.
As an intern at ESE, my tasks and responsibilities include showing up to my school site on time and starting to set up the after school program at about 1:45. The program starts at 2:20 and this is when 70 children are checked in from grades kindergarten to fifth grade. One responsibility of mine is to memorize 70-80 children's names every time I am there and effectively check them into the check list to make sure everyone is present. 2:30 to 3:30 is snack and recess and my responsibilities here include watching after the children to make sure no one is fighting, getting hurt, or assisting them in snack. 3:30- 5:30 is a variety of clubs in which all the children rotate to the clubs they want to do. My responsibilities here include helping children with homework, or assisting them with their specific clubs. 5:30 to 6:00 is wrap up and clean up time.
