This page contains all of my projects I have done throughout my Health Sciences classes. I am currently a Health Sciences major and it is required that we post our main projects to this page for our professors and future leaders to see. This also serves as a walk through memory lane because all of my big accomplishments for each class are pasted here.
This is one of my Health Sciences classes I took in summer section one in 2024. In this project I talk about Cuba's health care system and compare it to Unites States health care system. The main focus of this article was the emerging diseases and non communicable diseases in Cuba. Non communicable diseases show a increase from 1990 to 2015 in Cuba and they are still a reoccuring issue today.
This project was a part of the health sciences class I took in Spring 2025. I named this Cultural Characteristics because the lessons in my culture have shaped me into the person I am today. In this project I focus on my culture and stereotypes that are associated with my culture. I also talk about advantages and disadvantages the stereotypes have on my personal and professional life and what can be done to address these stereotypes.
This is a project I did in one of my health sciences classes in Spring 2025. The purpose of this project was to watch a court video about issues being discussed in Indiana and I chose the education system. While writing my paper, I learned that a lot of funding going toward schools to improve the food and health for students. There are many resources, such as controlling A1C levels for diabetes, being funded so the overall rate of health conditions improves. Schools are also focusing on tobacco prevention by improving the programs available to those that struggle in school. There has been an increase in the amount of tobacco and illicit substance use in school and schools are closely monitoring it to prevent further abuse of tobacco. One main issue discussed was the need to ease the work load on school counselors as they are being overworked and do not have time to complete their counselor duties. The push for alternative routes considering standardized testing and monitoring duties is discussed so counselors have more time to be one-on-one with students about school rather than performing different tasks around the school. Overall, I learned how the debate process works as each person pitches their idea to others and how the process of putting these ideas into actions is ran.
This is a class I took in Summer semester 2025. In this class I learned a lot of terminology and about the laws of medical decision making. In my ethical analysis paper, we were given a scenario and were told to use our ethical reasoning and pick a side of the debate. While writing this paper, I realized how difficult it was to weigh the pros and cons of treatment based on evidence and patient demands rather than my own ideas. From this paper, I learned how to apply my skills learned in class to a real case. This assignment allowed me to feel like I was a part of the ethics committee team who deal with complex end-of-life cases.
