FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2025
This week has seen the last of our interviews for Prefects, and some excellent election speeches from candidates for Student Council and Sustainability Ambassador. This Friday afternoon, the entire school will be gathering in House groups to view the Vice-Captain candidate videos. This is always an excellent event, with so many high-quality presentations, and first-class winners are guaranteed!
In class, students have continued with their excellent learning in English, as they build towards creating their own persuasive pamphlets for tourism in their chosen countries. They have engaged with genuine enthusiasm there, and in other subjects too. The teaching team are enjoying getting to know students from across the group in their Maths classes, and once again we see learning and personal bonding working hand-in-hand as the term progresses.
A note about chat groups. The students responded very well to our reminder earlier this term, but we are now finding some students are using WeChat to communicate. We do understand that many families stay in touch this way, particularly to those in China. However, may we please ask that you keep an eye on students' usage, to ensure they are not forming chat groups among their friends here at ISP. Another issue we have seen is that students are using ChatGPT, which has a minimum age requirement of 13. Students may use School AI, should they wish. Thank you for your understanding.
Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing long weekend with your families.

GOPENG RESIDENTIAL
Thank you to parents who have already signed their children up for our residential trip to Gopeng on 28th - 31st October. Please see SchoolsBuddy for further details.
EXTRA PE TOPS
As the students grow towards puberty, we find they can often return from PE rather hot and sometimes a bit smelly. Aside from deodorant, It is always useful for them to have spare PE tops to change into, and we would be grateful if you would consider buying extra. Thank you for your understanding.
FOBISIA WRITING COMPETITION
We’re excited to announce that our school will be taking part in this year’s FOBISIA Short Story Competition! We can’t wait to see the wonderful stories our students will create!
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Due to Public Holidays, school will be closed on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th September.
THURSDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2025
Though this has been a short week, the students have brought the same commitment to lessons and activities. Our learning units are proceeding apace, and in our Maths classes especially, the team has enjoyed getting to know students from other classes. This is always an important element of the Year 6 whole-year team-building, something we place great emphasis on with the students.
It was great to see so many of you in this morning's Gopeng Residential information session, and we hope that all of your questions about the trip have been answered. This afternoon, Ms Tracy has set up the sign-up and payment process. Details are in this letter, which includes the provisional kit list. The presentation slides can be found here.
Our Settling-In conferences this week were highly successful, and once again, meeting parents and learning so many interesting things about the students' backgrounds and interests is a huge part of setting our mindsets towards their needs and personalities as we dive even deeper into the year's learning. Should you have been unable to attend this week, please contact your class teacher to arrange an alternative appointment. We look forward to getting to know you all much better as the term progresses.
Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing weekend with your families.

FRIDAY 29TH AUGUST 2025
The students have settled very well into their routines in this second week of the new academic year. They are enjoying the beginning of our new units, especially Persuasive Texts in English and our 'Sayang Malaysia' unit in Humanities. We have seen some wonderful art too, which we will shortly be displaying in the Shared Classroom for everyone's enjoyment.
Our Shared Classroom is a most popular space! Break and lunch times see many students enjoying the variety of activities on offer, or simply relaxing, reading or chatting with friends. During lesson times, small groups have been working with our wonderful CA team on focused literacy tasks, and we welcome the flexibility the upgraded environment encourages.
It has been gratifying to see so many students apply for leadership positions, and they have acted highly professionally with their communications with teachers. Prefect interviews have already begun, and so far, reports are that the applicants are of a super-high standard. We look forward to seeing the Prefect cohort begin their valuable work around the school.
We look forward to seeing you next week for the Settling In Conferences. Please note, these are an opportunity for you to share information with the class teacher about your child, and for them to let you know how they are settling into the new class. As it is so early in the term, the teachers will not be discussing academic attainment. If you have missed the sign-up for these, please email your teacher directly to request an appointment.
Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing weekend with your families.

YEAR 6 ASSEMBLY

FRIDAY 22ND AUGUST 2025
It has been wonderful to welcome our students back into school, and also to greet our new arrivals. We welcome Andy, Bella, Berry, Egor, Jesse, Layla, Mica, Nahla, Mahad, Saanvi, Young Chein, and their families to the ISP community.
This week, we have taken time to enjoy 'get to know you' activities with the students, including a lot of work around identity, so a focus on families, nationalities, passions and interests. We have learned so much about each other, and it has all been a great bonding exercise which will hold everyone in good stead for the rest of the year.
The students have also enjoyed the use of our new Shared Classrooms, with their combination of workspace and activities, as well as comfortable seating. They have quietly socialised and made new friends, and we are impressed with how they have observed the 'promises' they made about conduct and respect for everyone around them.
It was great to see so many of you online for our Parent Information Session this week, and we hope that was useful for everyone. We have added to Schools Buddy slides from the presentation, and they are available here in the link on the sidebar.
Everyone is settling in very nicely, but of course, we will have more to tell you, and questions to ask during our Settling-In conferences in two weeks time. Dates are in the sidebar.
Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing weekend with your families.
