FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2025

It has been a very full week in Year 5 and, as always, packed full of wonderful learning. The students are now well settled into their new classes and are showing how much they enjoy coming to school and learning in Year 5.

In English lessons this week we have started to focus on one story, 'Theseus and the Minotaur'. We have spent time breaking down the first part of the story, looking at setting and character description, using prepositions, the power of three and show don't tell.

In Maths we have been learning to order numbers up to one million and how to round numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand and more.

The students have been creating fact files about the Olympian Gods in Humanities and learning about separating soluble materials from water.

Have a wonderful long weekend and as Malaysia Day approaches, we look forward to celebrating the rich culture and history of our country together. We wish you and your family a joyful Malaysia Day filled with pride and togetherness.

CCAs

All CCAs started on the 8th September. As shared by Ms Sharon in her Newsletter, dismissal after CCAs is by collection from the Ground Floor Playground by the Primary office. This is for all children unless they have an exit pass or are on a JPR bus.

SUMMER FAIR @ ISP

Join us for a day of fun and celebration on the Secondary Campus, where there will be lots of food, music and fun for the whole family. Entry is free.

FOBISIA WRITING COMPETITION

We’re excited to announce that our school will be taking part in this year’s FOBISIA Short Story Competition! Open to students in Years 3–6, the competition invites young writers to explore the theme “Being Human” through their creativity and imagination. Entries are due by January 9th 2026, and posters with more details can be found in classrooms. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Miss Eden. eden.f@isp.edu.my

We can’t wait to see the wonderful stories our students will create!

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Due to Public Holidays, school will be closed on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th September.

THURSDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2025

It has been a short week this week but we have still crammed in a lot of learning! From Greek Myths to sieving and filtering, to partitioning 6 and 7 digit numbers, the students have been engaged and enthused in the classroom.

A huge thank you to all the parents who came along to the Settling-In Conferences this week. It was wonderful to hear about your children and learn more about them. If you were unable to attend this week, please contact your class teacher to arrange an alternative appointment. We look forward to getting to know you all much better as the term progresses.

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and we shall see you back for a fun and busy week on Monday.

Year 1: 2:45 p.m.

Years 2 & 3: 2:50 p.m.

Years 4–6: 2:55 p.m.

Children due to be collected from class will go to Primary office at 2.55pm

Pick-up lane in the new car park - children will be brought by 3pm. Any children not collected by 3:15 pm. - taken to the Primary Office.

Older Siblings - dismissal area of their youngest sibling.

A polite reminder that we ask you not to message your children on their iPads during the day, as this can be a great distraction during learning time. Please contact the office if you have any messages, and they will forward them via the class teacher.

FRIDAY 29TH AUGUST 2025

Week 2 is complete and what a busy week it has been! The students have been so full of enthusiasm all week and this is shown not only in their school work but their attitudes in and outside of the classroom.

In English we have started our unit on Greek Myths and have been reading about the creation of the earth according to the Ancient Greeks. The students have been enthralled and captivated by the myths and over the coming weeks we will delve more into these.

In Maths we have started off revising place value and extending the students' knowledge and understanding of this crucial topic.

Our Humanities topic is also about the Ancient Greeks. Students have shared what they already know about the Greeks and we have started to look at artefacts and what they can tell us about this ancient civilisation.

In the Upper Primary assembly this week, Miss Sinead spoke to the students about a number of leadership opportunities that are available to them. If your child is interested in applying for Student Council, a Sustainability Ambassador, Digital Leader or a Sports Leader role, please see these slides for more information.

SETTLING IN CONFERENCES

We look forward to seeing you next week for the Settling In Conferences. Please note that these are an opportunity for you to share information with the class teacher about your child, and for them to let you know how they are settling into the new class. As it is so early in the term, the teachers will not be discussing academic attainment. If you have missed the sign up for these, please email your teacher directly to request an appointment.

FRIDAY 22ND AUGUST 2025

A huge welcome back to all parents, whether you are new to ISP or a returning parent. It has been a busy and fun week at school. So much has happened to the school over the summer and there have been changes to our routines and procedures. The students have settled really well into their new classes and are adapting to the changes that are presented to them. We welcome Hikari, Karis, Zixuan, Han Xiang, Suenn, Kevin, Maira, Liz, Becky, Hayley and Riley and their families to to the ISP community.

This week, we have worked on a number of different activities to get to know our new students. We have focused on families, nationalities, passions and interests. We have learned so much about each other, and it has all been a great bonding exercise to get to know our new classmates and new students in the year group.

The students have loved the new shared classroom space outside the Year 5 classrooms, and as the term goes on, this space will develop and grow to meet the needs of our students.
