FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2025
It has been another fantastic week in Year 4, where the children have enjoyed exploring a range of topics across the curriculum. The teachers are continually impressed with how motivated and enthusiastic the children are, and with how well they have settled into Year 4.
In English, we have been focusing on a range of grammar objectives, using 'James and the Giant Peach' as our vehicle text. We also began working with a shorter model text, which we will unpick together as a class. The super writing tools the children develop will then be applied in their own independent pieces.
In Maths, the children have been learning to partition large numbers and further developing their understanding of number lines. We ended the week with a fun, hands-on estimating lesson.
In Science, the children explored vertebrates and invertebrates, and how to classify them. They have also been working hard on developing key questions for flow diagrams.
In Humanities, we have been comparing Desa ParkCity in KL with the one in Hanoi. The children have also been busy creating guides to their own communities.
On top of all these great lessons, we were also treated to many wonderful speeches from our Student Council and Sustainability candidates. They should all feel incredibly proud of themselves. Good luck to everyone who entered. You will find out very soon if you have been elected!
Wishing you all a lovely long weekend with your families.
Best wishes,
Ms Lucy and the Year 4 Team

THURSDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2025
It was wonderful to meet with so many of you this week and to celebrate how well your child has settled into Year 4. Thank you for your ongoing help and support.
Although it was a shorter week, it was filled with fun and engaging lessons and activities.
In English, we continued exploring James and the Giant Peach. A particularly enjoyable lesson was when the children had lots of fun gathering ambitious vocabulary by using their senses with real peaches.
In Maths, the children built on their knowledge of number lines and developed a deeper understanding of thousands through hands-on activities.
In Science, we have been learning about snail habitats and how animals adapt over time. In Humanities, the children enjoyed becoming time travellers and creating video diaries to show how Desa Park has changed from the past.
Wishing you all a lovely long weekend with your families.
Best wishes,
Ms Lucy and the Year 4 Team

FRIDAY 29TH AUGUST 2025
It’s been a wonderful second week in Year 4! The students have continued to settle into routines beautifully and have enjoyed beginning our new units across the subjects.
In English, we investigated some mysterious seeds that appeared in our classroom. The children made excellent predictions and soon discovered that our new text is 'James and the Giant Peach'. We have begun reading the story and explored different word classes.
In Maths, we reviewed previous learning on place value and completed assessments to gain a clearer understanding of where the children are at. In Science, we launched our new topic on living things and their environments, looking at how birds have adapted to their habitats.
In Humanities, we explored what makes a house a home and the different communities we are part of. We also discussed what makes Desa Park a strong community, and to support this, we enjoyed a lovely walk around the lake this morning.
In assembly this week, the students were told about a number of leadership opportunities that are available to them. If your child is interested in applying for Student Council, a Sustainability Ambassador or a Sports Leader role, please see these slides for more information.

FRIDAY 22ND AUGUST 2025
It’s been a fantastic first week in Year 4! The students have settled into routines with great enthusiasm, and it’s been wonderful to see so many new friendships forming. It has also been lovely to observe how well our new students have settled into ISP, and what an amazing job their classmates have done in supporting them. We are delighted to welcome five new students to Year 4: Livia, Sophie, Anne, Nilo, and Adine. We are sure you will join us in extending a very warm welcome to them and their families as they become part of the ISP community.
This week has been filled with fun getting-to-know-you activities, team-building, and other start-of-the-year experiences. We are all very excited about what lies ahead this year.
The students have also enjoyed exploring our new Shared Classrooms, making the most of both the workspaces and activities, as well as the comfortable seating areas.
Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s Parent Information Briefing. You can view the session slides here.
Wishing you a lovely weekend with your families.
